1.   Quaker 100% Natural Oats & Honey Granola
A half cup of these is coated with three teaspoons of sugar and laden with more artery clogging fat than you'd   get in a McDonald's hamburger. Better choices are, Grape Nuts, Wheaties, Kellogg's All-Bran, Post 100% Bran, shredded wheat, or oatmeal.

2.   Bugles
These are fried in highly saturated coconut oil. This is about twice as saturated as lard. One serving (just over a cup) gives you 40% of your daily limit of saturated fat. Baked Bugles or tortilla chips are a much better choice.

3.   Buitoni Contadina Alfredo Sauce
Does a third of a stick of butter sound good for you? That is how much is in this sauce.Try Classico Spicy Red Pepper, Tomato & Basil, Fire Roasted Tomato & Garlic, or any sauces from Healthy Choice or Ragu Light. Your arteries will thank you.

4.   Pizza Hut's Big New Yorker Pizza
Is bigger really better? NO! Two slices of this pizza gives you almost a full day's saturated fat (17grams) and sodium(2.200mg), and 790 calories. And that's without sausage, pepperoni, or anything else. An entire Healthy Choice Supreme French Bread Pizza will only get you 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 580 mg of sodium and 330 calories.

5.   Entenmann's Rich Frosted Donut (Variety pack size)
Is it possible than such a yummy snack can have as much artery clogging saturated and trans fat (10grams) as nine strips of bacon? It sure is! The Entenmann's Light Donuts are a better choice, with anywhere from six to nine grams of fat per donut. Though certainly not a healthy food, they are better than the regular ones.

6.   Nissin Cup Noodles with Shrimp
These are pre-fried in  palm oil, and will clog your arteries up the same as one and a half cups of whole milk. Fantastic Foods Chicken Free Ramen Noodles are a better pick in this department.

7. Burger King French Fries
This franchise makes some of the worst french fries you can buy at a fast food restaurant. They are even worse than McDonald's Super Size Fries. The salty coating allows more oil to be absorbed. A king size order of BK fries packs a punch with 590 calories and 30 grams of fat,12 of them artery clogging.

8.   Campbell's red and white label condensed soups
Nothing like a hot bowl of soup on a cold day? True, but these have 1,100mg of sodium, about half the ideal quota for one day. Healthy Choice and Campbell's Healthy Request have less than half as much sodium without sacrificing any taste.

9.   Frito Lay's Wow! Potato Chips
These are fried in Olean, the indigestible fat substitute. It doesn't provide any calories, but many have suffered such severe cramps or diarrhea that they had to go to the emergency room! It also prevents the body's absorption of carotenoids.Again, try baked potato or tortilla chips.

10.  Denny's Grand Slam
2 eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 strips of bacon, and 2 pancakes. Sounds delicious right? Well, just listen to this. It contains three quarters of a day's total fat (50 grams) and saturated fat (14 grams), nearly a full day's sodium (2,240mg) and one and a half day's cholesterol (460mg). In contrast, the Denny's Slim Slam slashes the calories to 600, the fat to 12 grams, the saturated fat to 3 grams, and the cholesterol to a mere 35 mg.

Does any of this make you want to change your eating habits? Will you pay closer attention to just what the food you eat contains?

Nope! because I wouldn't eat any of them anyway!

All those sugar/fat laden snacks are just poison. What is wrong with plain old porridge (or oatmeal)? Crisps (or potato chips) are about the worst thing you could eat and even the low fat varieties contain far too much fat.

I think it is a marketing dishonesty to remove a couple of grammes of fat from products and then label them "low-fat". Also some low-fat products are so laden with sugar that they are even unhealthier than the full-fat products.

Read the labels folks!!

Studies suggest that monounsaturated fats and vegetable fats can actually raise good cholesterol and keep your arteries clean... despite your doctor telling you that exercise is the only way to raise it... and bacon, coming from a living source, contains no trans fat...

I gotta know tonight
If you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feeling
Can't stop this fire

I get hysterical, hysteria
Oh can you feel it
Do you believe it
It's such a magical mysteria
When you get that feelin'
Better start believin'
Cause it's a miracle,
O
h say you will, ooh babe
Hysteria when you're near

Unfortunately, no it doesn't.  I see it like this.  My grandparents and great grandparents (on dear old daddy's side) ate lots of fat and lard and stuff that is ,what they now call, extremely unhealthy for you....and they all lived a very long happy life.  I will stick to my good tasting, artery clogging foods...at least until the foods try to eat me first.  Then I will stop eating them.<GG>

We don't eat much of that stuff around here either. I actually didn't start out trying to feed my kids healthy, it came about because cooking from scratch and having fruits for snacks was so much cheaper than buying stuff that is already prepared. The kids dad had terrible heart disease that ran in his familly, so I have told them all that it is especially important that they watch their diets throughout their lives. And believe it or not, 15 actually had a revelation not long ago.....he realized that he is grateful that I  haven't been feeding them at fast food restaurants all their lives. They sure don't mind an occasional treat of pizza or a trip of McDonalds, but for the most part are quite happy to do without.

Interesting i had never paid attention to the Oats and Honey Granola.

It should also be noted the "cup o noodles" applies to all the similar products, ramyen noodles as well.

Any of those convenience store packaged donuts are bad for you.

You should include one item often purchased in convenience stores and gas station markets the microwaveable burritos. Two of those small burritos give you a day and a half worth of your saturated fat overdose. One of em is 89% of daily dose.

I am a very healthy eater and I read all the labels. I am a runner. Overall I am very health conscious. However, I eat some of the foods on this list and enjoy every bite. As long as you eat them sparingly  they don't do any harm. I'm tired of people blaming the food companies for putting out such "bad" products because they "make" people fat. People make themselves fat, stop trying to pass the blame and let the rest of us enjoy our indulgences. This list is nothing new to anyone who really cares, or who wants to care.

It would be better if we stopped consuming most packaged foods, grew our own vegetables and fruit, and produced home-made foods. This empowers us to control the sodium and fat without the additives, preservatives and other chemicals that are negatively impacting our physiology: new links are being frequently discovered that the chemicals are inhibiting the processes that sustain health and longetivity.

I think it's apalling that we live in a society that uses every marketing tool available to cram the most worthless caloric crap down our gullets, while we have entire populations of people in this world who would give thier spleens for just one decent meal!  Shame on our big corporations, and shame on the two thirds of us who are severely overwieght because we have so little self control!

The alfredo sauce listed a/b is fine.   alfredo is made w/butter, cream, parmigiano reggiano cheese, and garlic.  These are all healthy fats.  They aren't good however when digested w/refined sugar and carbohydrates such as pasta made from white flour, but over a chicken breast w/some broccoli added in, that is a healthy meal.

The campbell's condensed soup is definitely bad for you b/c it has all kinds of hidden added sugars in them.  It's cheaper to make your own tomato soup from scratch and it's easier too.
