New Skin Care Routines for Fall

Because your skin's needs differ based on temperature and seasons,  lhj.com suggests making the following changes to your skin care routine this fall:

  • Exfoliate
  • Switch cleansers
  • Add moisturizer
  • Try eye cream
  • Combat brown spots
  • Get a skin check-up

I have to admit,  I do not change my skin care routine from season to season.  The only thing I change is the color of the make-up I use.  I exfoliate during every season and I always use a moisturizer for extremely sensitive skin.

Click HERE to read more about why you should change your skin care routine in the fall,  and see an interesting word of caution considering moisturizers.  Do you change your skin care routine according to the season?

The only thing I ever use is just plain old soap and water.  If I use any product or moisturizer, I will break out.

I don't change my routine at all.  I use Oil of Olay as my skin moisturizer all the time.

I don't change my routine either.  I use one of several moisturizers I like, and I use foundation with SPF all year round.

I rarely wear make-up anymore!  I was in the habit of wearing it, then stopped again.  I could go back to it if I weren't so darn lazy in the morning!

That's why I have to be so careful what I use.  I found this new glycerine and white tea soap by dial that my skin seems to love,  and since it's not scented the hubby can use it too.

I use that too,  the one for very sensitive skin.   On occasion I will by the store brand version.

I wouldn't want to have to spend more money to continuously change things,  when I still have other products left.

I think I just make changes when my skin gives me 'signals' to use more/less moisturizer, etc.  I did find that using products all in the same brand makes a big difference to me, because it seems to all work together.

That makes sense,  since they're probably formulated to work together.   I find that to be true with my hair is well,  I get better results when I use the same brand of shampoo and conditionor.  I don't change that to suit a season either -  although sometimes I change hair colors.

I have 3 or 4 bottles at home.  I buy it at Costco when I am down here, because it is so much cheaper down here.

I typically use the moisturizers that come with the *free gift* when I buy Clinique or Estee Lauder.  I really like the Estee Lauder one.  But if I run out of those, I buy a less expensive moisturizer from Avon.

I don't have a Costco's membership but I go with a friend on occasion.  I do have one for BJs    Sometimes I can get the stuff for next to nothing in the supermarket though,  when it is on sale and I have a coupon - which they will double.

We have Costco at home and while I don't shop there often, it does come in handy.  I have used it more in the U.S. this year than at home.

Sometimes my friend and I go to Costco on Saturdays,  you can have lunch just walking around trying samples.  On occasion you can sample skin care lotions too!  I like when I can try before I buy,  then I know how my skin will react before I spend money.

Our Costco always has the samples too!

Now I want a soft pretzel!  Costcos switched to cinnamon sticks though - I like the regular.  Oh well all that salt probably isn't good for my skin during any season.

I've had very dry skin since I was in my teens (eons ago!) and I use Dove soap and exfoliate twice a week. Moisturisers are a must! I use one with collagen & elastin most of the time, but when it's really cold and dry I switch to a vitamin E cream. I also TRY to drink lots of water each day.

Dove is a good brand for lots of products.  I like their shampoos and sometimes buy the soap.  I typically don't wash my face with soap but use a moisturizing skin cleanser.  I actually like the store brand of facial cleanser better than the ones they sell at the department stores.

Hi Pmm10817*

Great to have you visiting the Women's Forum.  I hope you will make a habit of stopping by more often.  We discuss a lot of interesting topics,  and have lots of fun.

>>TRY to drink lots of water each day.>>

That's a very good point to keep skin looking it's best on the outside,  we need to stay hydrated on the inside as well.
