I recommended the theme to a friend, and he cannot get it from the original website. Maybe the upload is in different location, but I must have missed it. It does not matter if I left or right  click, and I don't get the .xpi file.
 I would appreciate any answer.

Go to the original page, Click on "Available Here" then on "Download to Install"   It is a .jar file (not an .xpi) which you can drag and drop into the left pane of the theme window.

I've uploaded a new version of the theme which mostly includes minor polish changes. As a reminder, the theme for this browser is located here:

http://www.projectit.com/freestuff.html#skypilotnb

and will only be seen if one is viewing that link using the Netscape Browser. Alternatively, here's a direct link:

http://skypilot.projectit.com/skypilotnb096.jar

however, this link isn't guaranteed to be the most current version nor even always to be there.

Either way, to install, first download the theme file to your desktop, then open the Theme Manager (Tools > Themes), then dragNdrop the theme jar file to the left side pane of the TM dialog. It should automatically install.

flvprn, I'm not sure why your friend cannot access the theme file as explained above? Also, for Firefox derrived themes, the only approved format is the JAR format and not the XPI format.

If you followed the steps outlined in the previous post then it should have installed. Did it complete successfully? If so, did you select the theme entry on the left pane and click the "Use Theme" button?

Dear Sailfish,

I did what you told us the program installs the theme but it remains invisible in the theme list.

I know it is there because I check for updates and it shows the list of updates with the comet and the sky pilot themes, very strange.

By the way I love the skypilot theme but I thought venerable modern is one of the most underrated themes ever, if you could update it for netscape 8 it will be great.

Keep the good work going!

Luciano Lima

Greetings Luciano, are you using the latest version of the Beta (0.9.6)? If so, you should see it on the Theme list. The only other thing I can suggest would be to rename your existing Netscape Browser profile, restart the browser (which should create a new one) and try installing the theme again.

As to Venerable Modern, yes, it is a very beautiful theme. As for porting it, or other themes, to this browser, I will keep that in mind if I ever decide to port other themes to this browser.

Please forgive me if the following have been covered. And, by the way it was my fault in having forgotten how to install the Theme, and that only .jar files were used.
My issue may not even be Theme related, but it surely is weird. I had selected Yahoo to be my Search Engine (you will see why I say this, later), and I had tried to add the Weather button from Customize. It would accept my choice  to the left, and, instead placed the button to the right. In the comet theme, my System mail button is on the far right. Since someone told me that  he had noticed a multiplication of the weather buttons, up to four total, although only the Bookmarks choice of the multibar had it. I decided to check this. When I went to customize, there was no entry for weather on the toolbar, so I dragged the button to the left size. Ok, now I have one button to the left, and two to the right, plus one in Locals. In the meantime each visit to customize wizard, produce one Y!  item. I ended up with eight. Eventually, I removed all weather buttons, except to the one on the far right, which is non-existant to Customize. After restarting NS8, my Y! count went down to one.  The Comet Theme has not even shown a single Yahoo button.
I am pretty convinced that this behavior is different with the different Themes, and the themes have nothing much to do with this. I happen to be using the Comet theme, but Skypilot is my favorite. No one is paying the attention to problems, and fix them fast, as Sailfish is.

I also experienced problems with adding buttons to a multibar that has the dynamic lists (Weather, News, etc.) It seems that if I add a button then it places well off the toolbar with no apparent way to get access to it in order to remove it. Sometimes I was able to get access to it by maximizing the window but in other instances, I had to remove the dynamic lists before I could see and remove the added button. This occurred in both Comet and Sky Pilot Classic (SPC), btw. It wasn't as obvious in SPC since it compacts the toolbar somewhat more than Comet.

Also, to be fair, I have the luxury to update the SPC theme and make a new version available as often as I see the need; whereas, my guess is that the Comet folks arer probably tied to the next beta drops for their updates?

Anyway, thanks for the nice coments.

Thanks for the reply. I have been telling people who ask me that NS8 is beta, after all, and I keep finding some flakiness almost every day.
I have never been able to update the Comet theme, by the way.
 Best regards. fp

I was unable to install Sky Pilot in the beta version, so I hope when its compatible to 8.01, the installation problems are fixed.

The Sky Pilot Classic theme is now ready for test on the Netscape Browser 8.0.2. It's not yet finished but should be in workable condition. It is available here.

Please report all problems to here.

It looks great, but the full screen anomaly is still present.

There's a bug in N8 causing the browser screen not to fill the entire window. It means a bit of the desktop is visible around the edges of the browser. I'm not sure it has anything to do with the themes necessarily, just something weird going on it Netscape. Anyway, I was getting it when I first installed Sky Pilot, and now I'm not. I'll just have to see if it comes back. I have the same problem with Modern Modoki theme.

Interesting. I'm not seeing that on Win98SE using either F11 (fullscreenmode) or the Maximize button. Which opsys do you see this on?

I have Win XP. Wait awhile, and see if you see any changes. It doesn't seem obvious right away. Sometimes from one day to the next is what it takes. Using the maximize button, or scretching the browser window doesn't seem to correct it.

Okay, I'll keep an eye out for it but you are correct in assuming that the problem is almost certainly a browser, rather than theme, anomaly, imo.

If it's specific to this theme, shoot me a screenshot and I'll see if I can replicate it.
