I am totally fed up with the catholic church. The  clergy that run the archdiocese  have "hidden" their evil long enough. It's sad that so many young lives are scarred forever by these  sinful acts against children. The church is supoosed to have a "covenant with god" ,now it is known to have a "covenant with pedophiles". Jesus warned of the pharisees who came to church to appear  holy in the eyes of the congregation, they came in fancy garb, but it was all for show.Never again will I confess my sins to another priest, its none of their business, its between me and god, especially now that the church has permitted and hidden sexual abuse towards children within its  own walls. How dare you...you hypocrites! Search your own souls before you question anyone else.

Amen to that.  It's nice to know i'm not the only one who feels this way.  I remember one of our local priests years ago befriended a family in town and would spend weekends at their home.  he would sleep in their son's bedroom and had been molesting him for years.  the priest suddenly transferred to another parish and it was never spoken of again.  the church protected him but not the children of our parish or of the parish that he was transferred to.  the catholic church is a haven for pedophiles.  the church protects them and the families unknowingly hand their children over to them, its a perfect set up.

I have said this for years & have met with a huge resistance.  Most people say there are just a few priest that are involved.  My stance is that there are many who have already been convicted and most are fully aware of the cover-up at the highest levels.  To me the catholic church is the largest homosexual organization in the world and employs huge numbers of pedophiles.  It is one way for these men to gain respectability in the communities in which they live and hide from society and be protected by their employer.  When they commit offenses in their current parish they are discretely moved to another location where they can then prey on new and unsuspecting victims.

There was just a new case in France where a priest was convicted of molesting a young boy.  He was previously a Canadian priest who had been convicted of the exact same offense years earlier and had served time in a Canadian prison.  The catholic church was fully aware of his background & gave him a new post in France full full knowledge of his criminal record.  Their actions are despicable and show the lowest of moral standards of any organization on record.  How can this group even call themselves followers of god?  IMO the catholic church is firmly entrenched in the work of the devil.

Ya know they aren't all child molesters. Lets be honest here, we need to have some compassion for the other priests who only molest the adult men and women of the church...;-)

I'd be careful there... The Devil may take offense at your callous attempt to besmirch his reputation by linking him to the "work" of the RC church.

One has to serious wonder if this is the reason why many Catholics are "thumbing their nose at the Vatican" by their wiliness to convert to another "faith", or resorting to "agnosticism"(or, atheism),  in response to this problem of pedophilia in the church. . .

In all fairness, there are honorable and dedicated priests, but the ones who fondle young children, taints the reputation of those priests who are truly "men of God". It will be in the best interest of the Catholic Church to punish these deviants accordingly, before membership numbers drop even further! People do have a wide range of spiritual choices available to them these days, and no longer need to rely exclusively on the Catholic Church to provide for their spiritual needs.

What needs to also happen is prosecutors should actively prosecute all cases of child abuse and send these sickos to prison for a long, long time where they belong.

And I have a question - why does it always seem to be Catholic Priests molesting children, most often homosexually? You don't read about this happening with Jewish Rabbis or Protestant Ministers.

<<<<prosecutors need to start.....>>>

I think it needs to go a step farther in that there should be immediate prosecution of any higher ups (senior priests, bishops, cardinals etc) who knew what the priest was up to and participated in covering it up.  Cover up should be as serious an offense as the molestation. When are people going to stand up and scream "We are not going to take this anymore!"

I for one look down my nose at the CC priesthood, and have lost respect for any practicing catholics who are NOT screaming for justice, swift and harsh. Confess MY sins to one of THEM? Not on your life!

You are absolutely right! God tells us in the bible to "go into the closet to pray" .The church has become a target because it allowed itself  to be.The bible tells us "your sin will find you out".As for sex offenders rights, they have none, they gave up their rights when they violated the rights of others.I don't care if they eventually have no place to go,put them on uninhabited alcatraz island. We need to protect the most fragile and guilible of society ...."our children".Write your legislators let them know "we are fed up" and want these priests held accountable. They chose this vocation and understood "celibacy" .The catholic church has protected these criminals long enough. The catholic church is falling down.Their sins have caught up with them.

The Catholic Church once invented some very horrid methods of torture. They should be revamped and practiced on these you cite.

Yes, I concur completely, but don't see it happening any time soon, unless there is a complete over haul of our justice system in addition to the Church's wiliness to prosecute rather than to coddle the guilty men of the clothe who rather fondle children than to preach the gospel. The Church needs to reconsider changing some of the archaic church laws, such as those that state that a priest can not be married and serve as a spiritual leader concurrently.

--->And I have a question - why does it always seem to be Catholic Priests molesting children, most often homosexually? You don't read about this happening with Jewish Rabbis or Protestant Ministers. <---

Good question! It might have a lot to do with the fact that Rabbis, Protestant Ministers, Emans, and other spiritual leaders are allowed to marry and raise a family while serving their church.

Recently, a Protestant Minister came under fire for alleged (physical) child-abuse of the children within his congregation. These allegations were in conjunction with a murder investigation of one of his former members! Several members who left the church, spoke of horrific abuse within the walls of the church. Four adult congregation members, not related to the child would take turns beating the child in name of deliverance according to what their minister had preached about the Biblical line: Spare the rod, spoil the child.

During a TV interview, this Minister spoke how he beat his own grandson's buttocks for crying the night before, during a Sunday sermon!

This, I agree with completely...Anyone who has committed any type of serious crime done lost their rights to live amongst the rest of us in society. The Catholic Church needs to seriously handle the problem, rather than to pretent that the problem doesn't exist.

Question: How will writing one's congressman make a difference in this instance? This I don't understand, as it seems that congress is not concerned with this, nor should they be. This is a major issue for our justice system, is it not?

I have to disagree with you on that.  allowing a priest to marry won't change anything.  a married man can be a pedophile as well.  these men are sexually attracted to young children (particularly young boys).  having a wife won't change that.
