I came across this list of history blogs that seems quite extensive.  I haven't visited them all, or even knew about most of them so I'm not vouching for them.  They're part of a larger list at History News Network

Wow, I had no idea that there were so many opportunities to view history...

These comprehensive lists are cool... lots of places to wander along the Information Highway<g>

I was kind of stunned, that's only about a third of the list.

    Great list!

One quibble, since I hang out there: Carla Nayland's Historical Fiction isn't mainly about women's history, but hist-fic and history in general, with some emphasis on Britain and especially the Anglo-Saxon period, her special interest.

Though not mainly a history blog, I'll pimp my own :) since I do sometimes talk about history-related subjects:

I thought it was a great find.  I wish Military blogs were so nicely grouped.  I can't answer to your quibble though, it's the link owner's grouping <G>

    >Though not mainly a history blog, I'll pimp my own :) since I do sometimes talk about history-related subjects:

Pimp away.  I enjoyed your entry about LOTR, gunpowder, and the relationship of the players in the books to empires and Caliphates, a very good discussion.  And I guess I'm sick, I knew of the Battle of Preveza, a major Ottoman Empire win in the Med.  It came up in a class on tactics where the problems of mercenary groups/fleets was discussed.

    Add to the list:

    http://www.roman-britain.org/

It covers, well, almost everything in Roman records about the Celts, and early tribes of Britain, as well as the Roman fort system set up therin.  Very nice site.
