REACT: 'SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE' SEASON 5 FINALE

IT'S JUBILATION FOR JEANINE AT THE KODAK THEATER!

It's been one of the most compelling competitions in 'So You Think You Dance' history, with a diverse Season 5 cast that has brought everything from Ballet and Broadway to Hip-Hop and Popping to the 'Dance' stage.

After a series of emotional, heart-wrenching weekly eliminations that saw some talented performers bite the dance floor dust much earlier than expected, the competition was narrowed down to four favorite dancers:

Brandon Bryant: A 20-year-old contemporary dancer from Salt Lake City, Utah who danced ballet from the age of 10, Brandon made it to the Top 20 despite vocal opposition from audition judges Lil' C and Mia Michaels.  Mary Murphy has been (literally, at times) crying out her belief in Brandon ever since Vegas week, but would he -- and Mary -- be shedding tears of joy or sorrow after the finale?

Evan Kasprzak: One of two Kasprzak brothers from Bloomfield, Michigan, to vie for a spot in this season's Top 20 -- the other being Ryan, who's already scored a ticket to Las Vegas for Season 6 this fall -- 22-year-old Evan brings a Broadway-based dance background to the competition and has drawn comparisons from the judges to the likes of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly throughout the season.  Will fans leave Evan singing in the reign of victory, or will they put a damper on his dancing aspirations?

Jeanine Mason: The 18-year-old contemporary dancer from Miami, Florida, who grew from the opening days of her longtime partnership with popper Phillip to become one of the season's most alluring performers.  The judges feel that she is peaking at the right time, but did Jeanine bring enough to the finale to take home the title?

Kayla Radomski:
The 18-year old contemporary/Jazz dancer from Aurora, Colorado and the apple of her beloved grandparents' eyes, Kayla earned consistent spots on judge Mary Murphy's 'Hot Tamale' train and one guest judge cited her as a 'triple threat.'  However, having 'danced for her life' numerous times throughout the season, does she have the fan support necessary to threaten the competition?

For the first time in the series' history, the finale took place at the Kodak Theater.  Here's a recap of the duo/group performances:

--The quartet of dancers performed a fun Wade Robson number set to Lady GaGa's "Boys Boys Boys."

--Jeanine and Evan performed a Sonya Tayeh Jazz number set to "Heartbreaker" from MSTRKRFT featuring John Legend.

--Kayla and Brandon said hello again to Broadway with a Tyce Diorio number set to "Bye Bye Love" from the musical, "All That Jazz."

--Brandon and Evan battled it out to a Laurie Ann Gibson Pop-Jazz number set to Janet Jackson's "Nasty."

--Jeanine and Kayla demonstrated girl power with their compelling Mia Michaels Contemporary number, set to Steve Reich's "The Four Sections: IV (Full Orchestra)."

--Kayla and Evan avoided trouble with their Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin Jive number, set to Travis Tritt's "T.R.O.U.B.L.E."

--Jeanine and Brandon closed out the night of competition with a Louis van Amstel Paso Doble to the music of  "Tetsujin" from "The Matrix Revolutions."

In addition, the following solo performances let the dancers shine:

--Brandon took the stage for a stunning solo set to "Dies Irae" by Karl Jenkins.

--Kayla conquered the Kodak Theater with her solo set to "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by the Eurythmics.

--Jeanine tantalized the audience with her tasty pirhouette-laden tango set to "Por una Cabeza" by The Tango Project.

--Evan, however, garnered some criticism from the judges for performing a similar routine to his audition piece set to the Michael Buble rendition of "The Best is Yet to Come."

After some closing analysis, Mary Murphy and guest judge Adam Shankman were non-committal as to who they felt might take home the title, but judge Nigel Lythgoe was a little more forthcoming with his opinions, remarking that he felt the final two would be Brandon and Jeanine.

The audience would then be left in suspense until Thursday night when the full Top 20 cast returned for a star-studded finale at the Kodak Theater, featuring some of the judges' favorite routines of the season that took viewers on a journey from the 'Butt Dance' to the emotional breast cancer piece, as well as some special performances by the Rage Boyz Crew and 'So You Think You Can Dance' Australia winner Talia Fowler.

As the Top 4 was eventually narrowed down after saying goodbye to Kayla, and then Evan, only two dancers remained standing, as Nigel had predicted the prior evening: Brandon and Jeanine.  After a record 21.6 million votes, the winner of the $250,000 grand prize and the title of 'America's Favorite Dancer' was revealed to be ... Jeanine, who thanked her family, the voters ... and, jokingly, the Academy (it is the Kodak Theater, after all)... for the honor!

So, do YOU think Jeanine deserved to be named 'America's Favorite Dancer'?  Why or why not?

What were some of your favorite dances of the past 'Dance' season?

I think the right person won!  I was for Jeanine or Kayla but was afraid Evan would win!  Congrats Jeanine!

I actually WANTED EVAN to win [let it be known that I'm a 24 year old female who absolutely loves white males,
I mean it was something totally different from what I usually see on television,
but to see that he made final 4 was AWESOME, usually the broadway "geeks" get booted the first
week so to see one of them make the finals was Awe-Inspiring, however, if I were to have replaced a
member of the final four it would've been Brandon [I would've switched him with Kupono or Phillip]. I think
that Kupono, Philip & Evan are talented guys in their own genre & to see them grow was amazing [did anyone
happen to watch the episode where Kayla & Kupono did a dance about addiction, I almost cried my heart out I
was so moved] & Philip, I mean come on that guy was HAWT, this is not a disrespect of Brandon, I mean he is talented
but I just don't think that his caliber of talent was that of someone like Kupono, Evan, Philip or Ade, but that's just my opinion.

I think the judge's comments were designed to influence the outsome. Nygil's "You've peaked at the right time," repeated several times made it clear he was supporting her. In contrast, comments for Kayla and Evan were often lukewarm.
