I'm anxiously awaiting Echo's release!  Is this the last book or will there be another?  I had read that one more was possible but then read that this was it.
Thanks!!

Diana has said herself that there is at least one more after Echo, but past that she can't be sure!

Dear am4--

I don't know where you read that "this was it," but you may tell them from me that they are idiots. _I've_ certainly never said it was the last book--since it isn't.  I don't know what possesses people, I really don't...

Am4:

Can I make a suggestion?  If you want to change your forum nickname, so that people know to address you as something other than "am4graves", you can click on My Stuff, at the very top of this page directly under the red "mm" in Community.  First names are fine, of course, or nicknames, whatever you're comfortable with.  I'm sure you can understand that it's a little awkward for us to refer to you as "am4graves" <g>, but we don't know what else to call you.  If you decide not to do this (and it's totally up to you <g>), then please remember to sign your posts with whatever you'd like to be called.

And please don't hesitate to ask here if you hear rumors of that sort in the future. <g>

Dear Diana,

You may have answered this before so if so, I apologize for the repeat question. Is Echo the last of the Outlander series or will you be considering more books in the future?

Thanks as always,

Deb C.

Diana has indeed answered that before <g>, and the answer is a definite NO; there will be one more book after ECHO for sure.  (Whether there will be more after Book 8 is something we REALLY don't know yet. <g>)

Dear Diana,

Karen did answer it but thanks for taking the time as well. That is a nice thing to know though. I am almost done with Brotherhood of the Blade and I am amazed how many questions have been answered with this book.

As always, thank you,

Hi All,

How many more books will be written in this series?  Will we find out about the 'ghost' from the first Outlander book in this new book coming out?  ?

Anyone know the answers to  these questions?

Eskany

Hi Eskany,

There is at least one more book in the series.

I haven't seen or heard anything about the ghost being mentioned in Echo.

But... if you are new here then welcome to the "wait and see" phenomenon. I can't spell the Gaelic translation but I'm sure someone will be along to help with that part.

Anyway it means that you won't know until the book is out and any theories or speculations that we come up with are always wrong. That's a paraphrase of something Diana said  (which she seems to get semi-evil glee from)<beg >

Hi Eskany, and welcome to the forum! <g> Feel free to look around and jump into any discussion that looks interesting to you. Or start a new one, if no one is talking about something you'd like to discuss.

We know there will be at least one more book after AN ECHO IN THE BONE (book 7 of the series, due out on Sept. 22, in case you weren't already aware of it).  After that, who knows? <g>  Diana has said that we will find out the answer to the mystery of Jamie's ghost at the very end of the very last book, so it will probably be a while yet.

If you haven't done so already, please check out our Forum Manual, which contains a lot of useful information for new members.

*** PLEASE READ BELOW ***

Here are a few important things that you need to know about Diana Gabaldon's section of the forum:

1) Most people here tend to assume that you have read all of Diana Gabaldon's published books, unless you say otherwise. If you haven't read all six of the OUTLANDER books, or all three of the Lord John books, you *will* encounter spoilers for those books here. Read at your own risk.

2) Diana frequently posts excerpts from her upcoming books, such as AN ECHO IN THE BONE (book 7 of the OUTLANDER series, due out on September 22, 2009), both here and on her blog or web sitePlease keep in mind that not everyone here reads the excerpts or wants to hear about them.  If you want to talk about something that you read in an excerpt, please make sure to include the word SPOILER and a few blank lines of "spoiler space" in your message, BEFORE the reference to the excerpt, so that those of us who avoid excerpts can have some advance warning.  Thanks.

More detailed information about what spoilers are can be found here. If you're not sure how to tell whether something is a spoiler or not, please err on the side of caution.

Again, welcome, and if you have any questions about how things work around here, please don't hesitate to ask.

Karen

Thanks Cathy,

I can never keep either the spelling, nevermind the pronunciation, in my head.

I think ii's because it's such an infuriating premise my mind refuses to have anything to do with it.

Dear Cathy,

Inquiring minds in another thread wanted to know how would you say "be careful what you wish for...." in Gaelic.(link to thread)

Karen suggested to put this phrase on the back of "Wait and see" T-shirt which I think is very appropriate.

RE: How many books to come?

I'm thankful there will be at least one more, but since Diana can make a single day in the life of Jamie and Claire so interesting, I'd love to have a (BIG) book for each two year period of thier lives until they're ancient! Not that I'm greedy or anything!

Dear Eskany--

Geez, how would I know? <g>   There's one more after ECHO; that's all I could tell you right now.  (Well, and there'll be a prequel to the series, dealing with Jamie's parents and the 1715 Rising, too, but later.)

You'll find out about the ghost in the last book, whenever that happens.  But ECHO isn't it.

Dear Karen,

You right, of course.

It was Barbara Schnell's suggestion to put it on the back of a T-shirt and it was yours to ask Cathy about the Gaelic version of it.

I got my wires crossed a little in haste to ask Cathy for translation.

Now credit is where it is due and I can relax till September 22nd.<BG>
