There are very few vets here in London since we haven't had a military presence since about 1953 so most of them would date back to WW2 or, perhaps, Korea. There are, of course, a few veterans who still appear at the Cenotaph on November 11 but I think that most of them gather at the various Legion halls after the 11 am service. I do know that the Legions have both free food and drinks for the vets.

Yet places like RC Willey, Ashley Furniture, Mor Furniture, Carpeteria and so many other places that are NOT 'service oriented' such as hotels, gas stations, utility companies, hospitals and in general places that would be considered 'necessary' --- hard to close down because of the nature of their job ... ... ... are offering discounts to anyone who walks in whether or not they were military ... not offering an even deeper discount to those who HAVE served ... staying open ON the day --- most open on ALL holidays as well --- for the want of the almighty dollar.
