FWIW, Arlene, I don't recall the final episode being anything more special than the previous few episodes where they were bringing back all the former stars of the show.

I actually prefer this year's bunch of new medical dramas:  Three Rivers, Trauma, and Mercy, in that order...  connie

>>FWIW, Arlene, I don't recall the final episode being anything more special than the previous few episodes where they were bringing back all the former stars of the show.<<

I watched it while I taped it; I liked seeing the former stars. I thought they did a good job as finales go. But nothing has equaled M*A*S*H or Newhart.  I thought I might want to watch the ER finale again but it's too late. The Cable DVR box is gone. It has been replaced with a FIOS box. I really like it and FIOS Internet is a bit better than my DSL. With DSL I was averaging 1000 kbps download speed; with FIOS I get at least 34000 kbsp (so far). Some difference, huh?

>>Three Rivers, Trauma, and Mercy, in that order.<<

We watched Three Rivers last night for the first time and I've watched Mercy but not Trauma.  Grey's Anatomy has seen better days.  My favorite was St. Elsewhere.

I tried to like Grey's Anatomy, I really did.  But it just seemed to be concentrating too much on being "quirky."  Gimme a good episode of House any day.  :)

My husband likes HawthoRNe, which is another one I could take or leave.

Arlene..  I enjoy Three Rivers.  Trauma is just blood & gore (big-time accidents).  Mercy's side-story is too far flung for my tastes.  I never did care for Grey's Anatomy so I never bothered to watch the spin-off, Private Practice.

Another new show that I enjoy is The Forgotten which is the story of a group of volunteers who help identify John/Jane Does.. connie

Marte..  I enjoy House, too, but his grating style is starting to get old, too.

What I did think was interesting was that they demoted his original team to bit parts for about 1.5 seasons while they brought in a whole new team.  Now I see that they have brought the old team back...  connie

They've brought the old team back, but I just saw a rumor that the actress who plays Cameron's going to be written out.  I sure wish they'd make up their minds.

Hugh Laurie's voice is completely different when he's speaking with his natural accent.  The sarcastic tone is completely gone.

I should take a look at The Forgotten. It sounds interesting.

Private Practice has a great cast but the show itself leaves a lot to be desired. I still watch Grey's Anatomy.

Maybe I'll start watching it again.

He was Bertie Wooster in "Jeeves and Wooster."

Yes, Hugh Laurie's been in a lot of very funny shows.  I honestly didn't think he'd do very well as a rotten curmudgeon, but I haven't missed one single episode of "House" since it started.

Now that we get these shows on demand maybe I'll track down some of the episodes.

On the plane I watched two episodes of the HBO series, "Hung."  It's an interesting show.

Do you suppose that was a ploy to demonstrate that they were commodities, dispensable, and reduce their salary expectations?

Marte..  That would be interesting.  I wonder who they would bring in cuz they already canned 13, right?  I guess they could bring her back.  That crew definitely needs a woman's touch or they'd really be over the edge.

Arlene..  I think it's interesting.  This particular crew is led by an ex-cop (his daughter is also missing).  His ex-partner asks him for help identifying John/Jane Does when the police can no longer spend more resources trying to track down the identity.  I took a quick look and there really is a Forgotten Network on the web so I guess this show must be loosely created around that theme...  connie

Could be.  I don't follow movie and tv actors so I have no idea if those folks are/were "nobody's", ie, new faces on the scene.  If so, then I guess they would take what they could get, including a demotion to bit parts (with possibly a cut in pay for that season).  But the lead-in to the show didn't change, did it?  (I always zoom thru that part)  That is to say, it still featured the old crew?

I don't have a clue, of course, but the show got away with it...  connie

Connie,

I'll check it out tonight. Another show I watch is Criminal Minds. I liked it better when Mandy Pantinkin was on but it's still good.

Yes, I agree with you completely, Arlene.

Another show is CSI (Las Vegas) in the same category of "was better but still good".  I liked it better when Grissom was the lead character, but now he's gone.  Note, however, that his "wife" has returned to the show this season.  I don't know that she helps much.

I also like Num3ers cuz I like the real life analogies of math concepts that he demonstrates...  connie

Oh gosh, I love "Hung."  We had HBO for a short time due to a mixup at the cable company and I had a blast watching it.  I have meant to look around and see if it's available for streaming somewhere.

Yeah, they canned everyone from the second crew.  I agree, they do need a woman.  Cuddy isn't enough.

Yeah, the old crew's names are still featured in the opening credits.  The second crew never got beyond "Also starring" status.

My husband loves Numb3rs.  I watch it if I happen to be in the room when he's playing back a recording, but I get the feeling it's a bit too much "deus ex machina" most times.
