But first, a photo taken recently. . .

And the question: Do you know of any instance in United States history when a Secretary of State (or any cabinet member, for that matter) when visitng a foreign country on official business dressed in the local costumery instead of normal American Western business dress?

Do you know of any who joined in a Muslim prayer ritual at the shrine of a Muslim saint (as depicted here)?

Seems to fit right in with Obama's bent-knee obeisance to the Saudi king, doesn't it?

Oh, what a proud country we once were.

Dick--

It's like here when a gentile or non-OJ Jew goes into an Orthodox shul, or even to an orthodox home, often.  Women do not wear slacks (I wear ankle length skirts where that is appropriate), do not carry a purse on Shabbat, Jewish men and gentile men don yarmulkes, etc.

It's the same with Hillary Clinton -- she and we do it to not offend the sensibilities of the other; some call it 'respect.'

So, nu?

Others call it appeasement. Dressing modestly is not the same thing as adopting the local costume, and officials of the United States have never done so previously, as far as I know.

When I was at a "private audience" with the Pope, I dressed conservatively; but I certainly didn't make the sign of the cross or get down on my knees when the pontiff made his appearance.

Those representing us shouldn't do that sort of thing either, and what Hillary and Obama did was disgusting and way beyond simple respect.

A yarmulke is our male 'local costume' if you will, nothing to do with modesty. And Sec. Clinton didn't get down on anyone's knees; She and Obama aren't  interchangeable, of course.

You're big enough to admit small errors IMO.

Which are the "small errors" you mean?

I don't believe I ever said she did. That was an analogy. My objection was to her dressing in full-scale Muslim religious garb (as far beyond a yarmulke as would be the long coats and streimels of Hasidim) and participating in an Islamic prayer service (notice her hands).
