The October issue of the Translation Journal (http://translationjournal.net), dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the ATA and to the 50th issue of the TJ itself, is out!

With 18 feature articles by authors from 13 different countries, on topics as diverse as medical translations, plagiarism, patents (in German original and English translation), and legal translation, in addition to the ever popular columns of Fire Ant and Worker Bee, Translator Profile, Translators’ Best Websites, links galore, and much more, this (50th) issue of the TJ is better than ever.

Access to the Translation Journal is free, and no personal information is requested or captured.

Read the TJ and recommend it to your friends and colleagues.

Too bad, John. Maybe next year in Denver?

Denver? Absolutely!

This year we had planned to travel to the East Coast (we always drive, never fly) for our vacation and make it coincide with the conference. Alas, other things got in the way of the plans and we're going to limit our travel to within California.

We'll see you there, have a good time in NYC.

Best,

J.

I hope that what kept you in CA was either more pleasant or more profitable, or both, than a trip to NY. But it sure is a hell of a drive.

Well, health issues for one. They are getting resolved slowly.

We like taking a month or so off and doing a cross country trip at least every other year. Last long one was to Victoria Island in Canada, then over the Trans-Canadian Hwy to Calgary, then south to Yellowstone park and then back to L.A. The one before that was to Maine and then down the East coast to Virginia then back to CA.
We have family all along the way that we like to visit with so it doesn't seem like a real "long" trip, more like a bunch of "little ones" <g>

We go to the San Francisco Bay area at least 3 times a year for family visits, etc.

Having a nice, big, road car is a plus too!

Best,

J

Ha-ha!

Surprisingly, at 24-25 mpg it's not that expensive. I have done the math; cheaper than flying without the airport aggravation. Besides, once we get to our destination I'd have to rent a car or find some form of transportation. -and no restriction on the number of suitcases <g>

Driving allows us to see the country as we go...

Best.

Certainly some valid reasons for choosing to be a groundling.

Best regards,  4merCL
