You say that the only scientists you know of that disagree are either associated with the government or industry. I see many scientist on the side of government who do claim global warming is an immense threat. The government is using their findings to pack House bills with money for research to combat global warming and raise our taxes in the process. That wouldn't be such a bad thing if the money actually went for that purpose instead of becoming re-directed pork. Industry, well, reversing the effects of global warming and manufacturing of Eco-friendly goods has become an industry of and it's itself. I know, because my company supplies some these manufactures with their components. The real shame with the Eco friendly industry is so few people can afford their products. Old school manufacturing is also jumping on the bandwagon in droves and is being financially rewarded by the government for doing so (our money again). You say that something needs to be done. How about the fact that the levels of chlorine from CFC's have been significantly reduced this past decade? How about the fact that the hole in the ozone layer above Antarctica has shrunk significantly and is predicted to be completely gone by 2050? And that prediction is based on only what we've been doing for the last 10/15 years. If the prices of zero emission cars, wind turbines and alternative fuels drop to levels where everyone could obtain them, pollution and ozone damage would disappear quicker. But, I doubt that will happen because companies may actually loose money if there's no pollution, and people don't want the windmills mucking up the scenery, so scratch that idea. Scientists, reputable or not, are never going to agree on this or anything else. Science is not so much about proving theory as it is about disproving it, so we are going to "enjoy" this debate in the scientific community for years to come as well as politicians and businesses attempting to profit off of it. While I will continue my part to care for our planet and not injure it, I will also continue to have faith in the extreme healing powers of Mother Nature. And if my little island shrinks, I'll move to the interior of the mainland. Tegan
