The Sky Pilot Classic theme is now available for download, install and testing for those who may be interested. It's not complete yet but it should be functional. I still need to design icons for the new buttons introduced in this browser and some additional polish work. Unfortunately, the multibar list buttons (Headline News, Weather, Shopping, etc.) are skinned outside the theme file so theme designers have no control over their look. Hopefully, the devs will fix this bug in subsequent updates?

The theme is located at, http://www.projectit.com/freestuff.html

To install, use the download link under the Sky Pilot Classic 0.9.6 column to download the theme file to your local drive, say,  to Desktop. Then, open the Theme Manager (TM) and simply dragNdrop the theme file from your Desktop to the left pane of the TM, it should auto-start the installation. Then, select the theme for use, exit and restart the browser and the theme should appear.

Please use this thread to report back any comments you may have about the theme.

gl and enjoy.

Gorgeous, as usual. The popup number is sort of squashed, but who needs it? I still get the Weather button to the right, and it is unlisted when I try to customize. But, this was going on before.
But, nothing like reading the instructions, and understanding them. I failed at the first attempt, until I realized that there was no way to get the job done until I minimized NS8, and left only the Theme Manager . After drag and drop, everything worked ok.

Just FYI, the bookmarks underline aggravation has been eliminated by using SP !! :-)

Okay, I've uploaded a revised version of the theme. I'm not using the update mechanism within the browser so those who want the newer versions will need to first uninstall the existing theme version and then reinstall the newer version as explained in the first post in this thread.

I've fixed the missong end-caps when in small icon and fullscreen modes, fixed the squished Popup Blocked count (thanks, flvprn), added the dropmarker to the sidebar tabs title bar, cleaned up the multibar control buttons and other minor polish changes. I still need to re-design the new buttons, though.

PS: For those who use it, I was able to get the Sky Pilot Classic version of NIM/AIM/ICQ to work, as well.

Dad7732, I'm not sure what the issue with the underline bookmarks is but I'm pleased to hear that the theme doesn't exhibit it  :-)

In the default theme, all of my bookmarks on the personal toolbar were underlined, singles as well as all of ones in folders. VERY annoying to say the least.

Ahh, I hadn't noticed since the first thing I do when I install a new mozilla-based browser is to uncheck  "Underline links" and set my userContent.css file so that they are underlined only when I hover over them (an IEism.)

Also noticed that the SEARCH button is missing next to the search window along with the drop-down list of search terms, etc.

Doesn't do the trick in my bookmarks, still "underlined".

Hmm, I unchecked it and can confirm that it made no difference on my system, i.e., the bookmarks still were not underlined. I'm not sure why it doesn't show on my default theme?

I can also confirm the loss of the "Search" drop down element from the Search bar, I'll add something in for it in the next update. As a workaround, you do have access to the history if you mouse very closely to the left side of the Search box, where the Search keyword would normally be; although, it's not real easy to use.

Very interesting. But, I actually have no problem with the Search engine selections. In fact, I could not make changes in the Comet profile, while I could with the Skypilot. Somehow the squished names are ok. But, I noticed one serious problem. That is with Webmail. I have been able to set up Netscape(2 accounts), Yahoo and Excite webmails in the Comet profile. They work like a charm.  But, with the Skypilot profile, Excite tells me that the browser does not allow to sign on. Excite gives the usual causes, cookies, but I have five cookies, and javascript. The console has been giving me one error regularly, i.e: labelText has no properties. And, once, an expected error., which I could not reproduce.
I cannot sign on my Excite, either.. Netscape and Yahoo work great.

This is great stuff - I've been using some Firefox themes in NS8 by changing the code in the install.rdf file but some of the functionality is funky.  I have no useability issues with this them and I must say I usually don't like darker themes but this one is so detailed and well done it's a keeper.

Thanks for the work and I look forward to seeing more for NS8!

Skypilot themes have been my favorites, and I have one in NS7.2, and one in Mozilla1.7.6.
I have also noted how Sailfish tries to keep up with all the changes. Kudos to him.
Having said that, I found another glitch. That is in Webmail. I have two Netscape Webmail accounts, but with the skypilot theme, I do not get recognition of the  second username. That's ok, because I get both with the other profile. I have also Yahoo, and Lycos. Still can't get Excite, nor its website.

Please, no LARGE print, thanks ...

The file is not corrupt. Right-Click on the "Download to install" link and select "Save target as ..." and save to your desktop, then follow the rest of the directions to install. Works just fine.

flvprn, a theme shouldn't, normally, affect  the ability for someone to log into a site since they are just CSS stylesheets; although, it could be a case where the theme's stylesheets are just large enough to cause a system resource problems. For example, on my primary Win98SE system, I cannot login to this feedback site, even with the default theme, and must do so using either Firefox, Mozilla or Netscape 7.2 (which work fine.) I was also unable to login into the Netscape webmail site but I'll try it again on my WinXP system and get back to you with the results.

EDIT: flvprn, I'm now on my WinXP system and was able to successfully login to my Netscape Webmail account. I also created and successfully loged into an Excite account.

Could your difficulty be a resource constraint with your system?

I doubt it. But please explain what you mean by "resources constraints".
I am using Win XP, 512 MB, and at least 50GB HD space. The curious thing is that I can log in the Excite site, and get the mail from the Webmail button, and I can get both Netscape Webmail accounts, using the Comet Theme. But, Excite tells me that something stopped it, and, there is a problem with my other  Netscape Webmail account. I can click on either  account, and still get into the flvprn. But, I  have not tried to access Webmail from the Netscape website.
I have also revived my Lycos account with  Skypilot.(the flash adds in Lycos are horrible).
I should have checked what I posted before, so, pardon if there is duplication. Someone asked me if it was possible to have more saved Tabs in NS8 beta. There is a limit of eight  with the Comet Theme, the rest  being in the dropdown to the far right. You can add as many as possible with this Theme. Not nessarily good, because it becomes hard to ID the Tabs.
I will have to double check on the webmails.

I might as well as give a new reply. I solved the Excite mystery. The problem was that I had selected to automatically sign in. When I change to fill the passcard, the Excite sign on came on, and it said that I had the wrong password. I was ok after modifying the password, and then the passcard came up to be updated.
I don't like this double checking. It sent me on a wild goose chase.
As for the Netscape webmail, I , again, caught in the passcard game. No error there, but apparently there is an  aol passcard first to be filled, and that 's downright messy. I can log in both addresses, but do I have to work for it!
I was under the impression that the Comet theme worked, but, I will have to come back after checking.

From what I've noticed, the "resource constraint" issue isn't with WinXP, only Win98SE.
