I spent some time walking in Highbanks Metro Park (north of Columbus OH) the last couple of weeks enjoying the Fall colors. Attached are a few of my pictures. More can be found at: http://skyockey.smugmug.com/Landscapes/2009-Fall-Colors/10073591_RYxxf/1/691037903_WEtrz
Enjoy.

Those are gorgeous.  Are those white squirrels common?  I've never seen one.

That one is the only one I have ever seen. Most squirrels in this area look like the one in the attached photo taken at another Metro Park (Inniswood) in Oct.

I know better, but I swear nature in these parts just takes the picture for you. Both these galleries of Fall colors are simply beautiful.

Very nice. I love the path_thru_woods one the best.

I agree.  Lovely colors and composition.

There's a temptation - at least for me - to take fall foliage photos that attempt to rely on the color.  But without good composition, in the end they don't sing for me.

Bob -

An astute comment. Here's a spring photo I took where I love the color but believe lacks composition.

Thanks. The pictures taken on and of paths in the woods seemed to work much better than pictures of the woods from an opening or at the edge of the woods. Maybe it was the way the light streamed through the trees as opposed to the flat even lighting in the open.

Dorothy,

Ah, azaleas!  Ah, warmth! <g>

But I think you're right, while it's got great color, the composition isn't the best.  Also, it seems unsharp at the bottom which is a bit distracting to me.

It's so easy to criticize after the fact! <g>

Bob -

Agreed on both points. Every once in a while I look at it trying to convince myself that it either has good enough composition, or that there is something i can do with it to improve the composition. I haven't found a way, and so I close it up again.
