WASHINGTON – Republicans wrested Virginia from the Democrats Tuesday in a one-sided sweep of top offices, and New Jersey's unpopular Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine fought for his political life as independent voters swung behind the GOP in elections in both states. It was a troubling sign for President Barack Obama and his party heading into an important midterm election year.

According to Gibbs, Obama is not watching the election results.  if true it is because he knows it is a loss.

According to the latest on foxnews.com, the only Democrat to win was Owens in the NYS 23rd District.  The Republican Party may have been given another chance to provide an alternative to the Democrat Party.  Let's see if they can make the most of that opportunity.

we shall see what this election brings.  the media is trying to spin Owens into a big loss for republicans which is true, and a big loss for conservatives which it is not.  conservatives won by getting the liberal republican out of the election.

Conservatives may have even won more by coming within about 5,000 votes of Owens.  I'm a "New Yorker In Exile".  New York has never, to my recollection, been a Conservative State.  One only has to remember Republicans like Tom Dewey, Nelson Rockefeller, Jacob Javits and George Pataki as evidence.  The prior incumbent was a "moderate" Republican.  The closeness of the race may say something about what's going on out there.

Well it is an off year election.  Still there were quite a few people not happy with the sitting Gov.
