Laura -

I think it's too early to tell what kind of team "power" NCIS-LA might have.  What I know at this point is that it is different from its parent show (that's good, in my opinion) and that the characters I've seen in the premiere episode interest me.  I think there's real potential for a success.

I watched and enjoyed it. I will continue to try it out. I do like the "office manager" lady. She is one of those people that could herd cats.

Hi, Libby

I have never watched the original NCIS but I saw the clips for this new show in L.A. and liked the actors so I gave it a shot.  I liked it -- who ever thought LL Cool J would be a fairly decent actor?  And I will watch anything that has Linda Hunt in it, she is really my favorite.  I always thought she could be "M" in the Bond movies.

Forgive me for going off topic for a minute.  I haven't been on line in years, not since the good old CompuServe days and when I saw your name I thought of Mike who sold you the boomerangs.  Do you remember him?  I've always wondered what happened to him, he just seemed to disappear.  He was very pleasant to everyone here.  Mia, at the time, said she thought he was taking a vacation for awhile but he'd be back.  He didn't come back and I just had an awful feeling about him and I hope I'm wrong.  If you know anything I would love to hear it but if you're not allowed to say, I'll understand.  I bought a couple of boomerangs, too, and they're still like new.  Those CS days were fun, weren't they?  While I'm being nosey, any word on Mia, too?  Hope all is well with her.  I was very sorry to hear about Don's passing.  He was one of the good guys.  Susan was there at the time, too -- wonder if she bought any boomerangs?  <smile>  Mike had quite a business going and loved working at it.  Thanks for any info.

Hi Marie -

Welcome back!  It's good to see you participating here again.  Glad you're enjoying NCIS-LA (as I am).  I, too, like watching Linda Hunt and feel she could be either "M" or "Q" in the Bond movies.  She'd handle either role with great panache.

Susan is still here, in case you haven't already noticed.  Other than that, I have no information about the rest of the old crew, but I hope they're all well and happy.  I haven't heard from Mike and have no clue about his whereabouts.  The boomerangs I bought were gifts and I hope they're still around and in good shape.

Hi, Marie!

Welcome back! It has been a while, hasn't it? I'm still here, but I didn't buy any boomerangs <G>.

I also miss the good old days when we needed Compuserve software to use the forums, but progress made the changes that took place necessary. At least we've still got the forum to discuss our favorite TV shows and chat, so I hope you'll stick around!

In order to avoid the dreaded "thread drift", I also watched NCIS LA, but the jury is still out for me. I did enjoy it but, for some reason, it hasn't quite grabbed me yet.

Susan

Susan, thanks for your reply and if I had not seen your name, Libby's, or Laura's, I might not have started posting but it gave me an "old home" feeling to see you're all still here, keeping the place warm for visitors and "old timers" <grin>.  I promise not to thread drift again but I will say one more thing about Mike - he was the one who kept giving us his reviews on the latest movies and I would tell him to stop it, this is a TV forum, but you were so sweet to him and told him to go ahead, the movies would be on TV soon anyway and we'd all have a laugh about it.  Nice memory among many.

I haven't found any word on the TV show "Dark Blue" starring Dylan McDermott.  Maybe I don't know the right section to look.  It's somewhat dark but the acting is very good, a show about undercover police officers with Dylan as the Chief.  I watched the first show and got hooked.  It's one of these shows that has maybe 10 or 12 episodes (like "Closer"), then shuts down for a few months and, hopefully, will return.  If you or the other gals can tell me anything about it, I will appreciate it.  I do hope it has been picked up and not canceled.

Marie...

PS -- Susan, I am using Marie, my real name, and somehow "Savannah" has been included, too, without my adding it.  How do I remove this?  Thanks for your help.

Hi Marie -

When looking at "My Stuff" when you come to the Compuserve forums, you can tell it what name you would like to have show.  I'll bet that's where "Savannah" is hiding.  You can put in Marie and then choose whether or not that's just for this forum or for all forums you visit.

I'm off to check that now.  If I'm wrong, I'll be back with an edit.

I'm baaaaaaaack... and I remembered correctly.  Be sure to click the "Update" button on the right when you're through changing your name.

Thank you, Lady Boomerang, oops sorry, Libby <grin>

Savannah rings a little bell with me.  I think I tried one evening to log on to the site and tried using this name and was told it was already taken so I lost interest.  I am easily defeated <second grin>.

I was very small when Elizabeth II had her coronation and it was actually televised (probably just bits shown in the US).  I remember my mother saying that that nice new Queen of England had the same name as ME. <S>

Hi, Marie!

I've never heard of "Dark Blue" myself, so maybe I'm not the only one and that's the reason it's not being discussed <G>! What network airs it?

There's still a few of the oldtimers here so you may run into a few more familiar faces.

Bonjour, Susan

"Dark Blue" is on TNT or was until the season ended (first season).  These "off network" shows are really short compared with the others.  Maybe 12 shows instead of 22 or 24.  No wonder the actors have to keep working on other projects, there's a long hiatus until their own shows start up again.  I started watching "Dark Blue" because I caught a clip of Dylan McDermott talking about his new show.  If I hadn't seen him I would not have known about it.  It reminds me a little bit of "NCIS-L.A." because of the undercover work.

Regarding "familiar" faces, it's sad to say that most of the oldies are not here but everything changes at one time or another.  I did see Kay answering to someone and she's just as gorgeous as ever, isn't she?  I remember a Frank but I don't know if he is the same one who posts now.  I see where someone named "Sky" is using Don's childhood picture as his avatar and thought he may be a relative or friend.  Ah, the CompuServe days when words flew fast between us all and we couldn't get enough said about all the shows, and so many posters, but this is a different age that we live in and I'll stop reminiscing.  Sorry.  Moving on...  :-)

Bonjour, Marie!

<and that's the extent of my French> <G>!

Some of the series on cable channels are far superior to those on network television (e.g. Mad Men, The Closer and Army Wives). I'll have to keep my eyes open for Dark Blue.

I'm not sure how many episodes are produced for the shows on TNT, AMC, Lifetime, etc., but I don't think it's the full 22. The season finale of Army Wives is this Sunday night, and it seems as though it only just started again.

Even though the old Compuserve forums are no longer, at least we are still able to discuss our favorite shows here. Unlike many other internet forums, members can feel safe posting their comments here because this forum is still moderated and there are no personal attacks or profanity allowed.

Hi, Susan

I watched the latest "NCIS L.A." and I like it, mainly for Hetty (Linda Hunt), she has the best lines.  And I like it that she is the Chief over the troops.  Her delivery is always perfect and my favorite line this time around was, "George Hamilton told me that women should play hard to get -- oh, wait, was it Sinatra?"  I laughed out loud just picturing her with either of those two men.  She probably has a thousand stories to tell and I'd like to hear the one about Nepal.  She is an intrigueing gal, that's for sure.

I also watched "The Good Wife" and I am so impressed with Juliana and her character.  She plays it cool, so smooth and intelligent, no yelling or in your face stuff, just using her intelligence and being a lady.  She's not perfect but what I see, I like.  And she dresses like a professional.  We know she's lovely and looks sexy but she doesn't have to flaunt it.  I'd say she's a good role model for young women who are thinking of entering the work force.  And the scene with Chris Noth and her in bed -- you could feel the love.  I hope the producers can work out the story and decide to keep him around for her, they are just yummy together.  (Can I say that?  I guess I did! lol)

Hi, Marie!

I also love Linda Hunt and am really enjoying her character. I had to google her because I couldn't remember where I had seen her before, and it was "The Practice" where she played a judge.

I don't know why, but NCIS LA still hasn't grabbed me yet. I'm going to keep watching, but I'm definitely not enjoying it as much as the original.

IMHO, "The Good Wife" is a keeper. I'm glad that Juliana finally got her own series and she's doing a great job. I thought Chris Noth was a series regular, but he's only listed as a special guest star in the opening credits, so it doesn't look as though he'll be sticking around.
