Windows update looked completely different this morning. Is this a new look or a problem ?

Different in what way?  Posting a screenshot would assist things...

I checked WU with my Vista Laptop this morning and did not see anything different...

Dale...  I did my weekly updates run on Tuesday and MS Update looked the same on both the XP and Vista machines.  However, last night I was working on my niece's Vista laptop and it updated the Windows UPdate software.

Today (just a few mintues ago), I checked MS Update again and this time both my Vista laptop and the XP machine updated the Windows Update software.

It looks the same on the XP machine, but looks slightly different on the Vista machine, not totally different, just a little different.  Now the main window give you a count of what updates are available (important and optional).  Instead of clicking on a "View Updates" button, you click on the count (either important or optional) to make the itemized list show up...  connie

Yeah..  The updated Windows Update software wasn't offered to me on my Tuesday run.  I just happened to catch it on my niece's Vista laptop so I decided to check my own Vista laptop and XP machines again today.  I ran MS Update on both machines and both said that I needed to update the Windows Update software before I could actually check for "updates".

It was also an interesting process....

I said to go ahead and install the new Windows UPdate software.  It went thru the download process and what I thought was the installation process.  I rebooted the computer and ran MS Update again.  This time I got an "install?" message (again).  I did so and then all was well.  That is to say, it seemed to be a 2-step process to get the new Windows Update working???

If you didn't see it/get it, then perhaps they are sending it out in batches.  This might explain why the guy posted this thread in the first place.  Perhaps he got the change in the first batch.  Again, though, the Vista update screen is only slightly different from before, not completely different...  connie
