Do Americans Still Support Obama?
Despite claims by some of his critics that he's losing support among the American public, a new poll shows most Americans still approve of how President Barack Obama is doing -- in numbers within 1 percent of a similar poll a year ago. But Fox is claiming his support has dropped markedly. Whose polls do you believe -- and why?
Critics of the president on Fox News are today saying that Mr. Obama could be in trouble for having supposedly "raised the stakes" in today's off-year elections. And Fox wants people to ask whether this is a "Referendum on Obama."
Yesterday, Fox even touted a poll which they said justified their headline, "Fox News Poll: 43 Percent Would Re-Elect Obama October 18, 2009."
But today's poll by CNN/Opinion Research Corporation shows "Obama's approval rating of 54 percent is nearly identical to the 53 percent of the vote he won a year ago."
And "His approval rating among liberals is 7 points higher than the number of liberals who voted for him," they observe.
Perhaps not surprisingly, the president's approval rating among conservatives is down ten points in their latest poll.
What do you believe Americans are really thinking about how the president is doing right now?
