>>You and your doctor may think it's menopause, but it could be something more serious. >>

Prevention Magazine warns us that we should never ignore these six symptoms:

  • Changes in Periods
  • Hot Flashes
  • Hair Loss
  • Achy Joints
  • Depression
  • Palpitations

I have a problem with achy joints, and since I live in an area where Lyme disease has become an epidemic, I should probably mention it to my doctor at my next check-up.

Click HERE to learn more about the above symptoms and find out why they should never be ignored.  Are you guilty of ignoring symptoms, or do you call your doctor the minute you notice changes in your body?

I think this could merely be something we should ALL take to heart - ALL symptoms should be examined.  If there's something different going on with your body, you need to address it.

I have a few of those symptoms but Dr's don't seem to worry about them too much... not just one Dr but many.  We try to be proactive and tend to get nowhere with our current system.

Now we just need Dr's to listen to us when we say something isn't right..  That is how I feel the last few days but I was just told to drink more water.  Please.

I usually worry about the symptoms a couple days and then go to the doctor. IF they were major, then Id be definately going to my doctor, asap.

Amen to that!  Doctors just don't seem to take womens systems seriously.  Once they do, its usually way too late in the illness.  Its changing slowly.  But I doubt my daughter will see many if any changes.

When we lived in California and had Kaiser for insurance, I found that many doctors did not take me seriously.  Since we've lived in SC, I've had really good doctors.  There was only one incident where the doctor didn't listen to me.

I normally blame achy joints on the weather.  Rain really puts a damper (ha ha) on my knees.

I know what you mean - it's got to be even more frustrating when you have a bundle of symptoms which may or may not be interacting with each other!

I totally agree, no one knows our bodies better than we do, if something is off, we need to pay attention.

I've been blessed with a doctor who really takes the time to listen to me - but I hear you, I know many times when doctors can't figure out what the problem is, they like to tell you it's all in your head.

I have a woman doctor who is wonderful.  She really takes the time to listen, but before that I left a practice of seven doctors, who could never figure out what was wrong with me, and who could never fit me into their overloaded schedule. There's only one doctor in my doctor's practice -her.  It may mean a longer waiting room wait, but she takes time to see me.

I've found doctors in different areas to handle patients differently too.  If I ever move, or if my doctor retires, I hope I can find another I like as much as her.

My doctor is a woman and she is WONDERFUL.   She is getting a whole new degree in Intergated medicine because of me.

I have this autoimmune system that hates me.  So I have LOT of autoimmune isses, including Crohn's disease.  and lucky me i ended up with a condition called Pyroderma Gangranosium --leg ulcers on my R. calf.

Fairly straight forward except it was misdiagnoised, ended up with chronic infections, and a leg that looked  like a sharp had got hold of me.     I have been in the hospitla 16 or so times in the last two years.  Not a lot of fun.  But remember those ulcers could have been inside my gut.  They were deep. and nasty.

I almost lost my leg.  I went to my new doctor and since we both belong to the same Relgious Faith,( we are Bahais ) and were about out of inspirations we  decided together   to take the word of one of my Religous leaders

Abdulbaha prophised   "One day, food will be used to treat illness.:"   And we said Why not now?   I was given good suppliments -- ordered from a company that ONLY sells to doctors.  No healthfood stores carry them  They are not cheap but they are worth it.  We are healing my body by feeding my body what it needs.  Okra Pepsin and Zymex help the Crohns;  My leg is getting better,  I am growing skin again and I am exercising at the YMCA a couple times a week.  I take iodine for an antibotic and have not been in the hospital since July.  I am literally eating my way back to health.

First things first, welcome to the Womens Forum!  Chime in on any discussion anytime, or feel free to start your own.

Good for you Anna!  That you are on your way back to a healthy state.  A friend of mine in college had Crohnes.  There were times when he was absolutely miserable.  I've learned quite a bit about it since, I'm no expert on it, but have learned quite a bit from him.

Since you are from the Cusick area, you have probably been thru Moses Lake.  When you have a moment check out the Welcome folder on the left and tell us a little about yourself.
